INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

COUPLES THERAPY

FAMILY THERAPY

WHAT IS THERAPY?

Therapy is the process a person, couple, or a family engages in to solve problems that have moved beyond their ability to manage without creating increased levels of stress, tension, frustration, anger, anxiety, and emotional distancing.

By exploring why the problem is a problem, we seek to understand what thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors reinforce the problem both passively and actively and collaboratively experiment with treatment strategies customized to the individual's, couple's, or family's level of comfort, ability, and insight/  understanding associated with the primary issue(s) that brought them into treatment.

STAGES OF THERAPY:

1.  Beginning:  Identify & stabilize the primary issue(s) or crisis that brought the individual, couple, or family into treatment.

2.  Middle: Education, skill building, process and practicing, confronting passive-regressive behaviors & patterns.

3.  End: Mastery and termination.  Transitioning from regularly scheduled appointments to "as needed" or supportive therapy.

HOW LONG DOES THERAPY LAST?

Each couple, family, and individual is different. Much like life, you get out of it what you put into it.  More often than not those who commit fully and practice outside of therapy have the best results and spend less time in regularly scheduled therapy. Those who are resistant and struggle to use the tools and insights learned in therapy outside of therapy have varied levels of success and spend more time working to resolve the issues that brought them into therapy.
